BMJ Case Rep Published online: [please include Day Month Year] doi:10.1136/bcr2014-204638 DESCRIPTION A 37-year-old woman presented with vague upper abdominal pain and dyspepsia. Clinical examination was unremarkable. Gastroscopy showed a smooth ‘bulge’ at the junction of the gastric body and fundus along the greater curvature with normal overlying mucosa. Biopsy revealed inflammatory changes but no dysplasia or malignancy. CT scan showed welldefined gastric body wall mass (figure 1). She underwent a wedge resection of the mass with normal gastric margin without regional lymphadenectomy. Histopathology showed a well-circumscribed lesion (4.5×3.0 cm) composed of spindled cells arranged in interlacing fascicles, whorls and palisades (figure 2). Very rare mitoses (1/50 HPF) were seen and the overlying mucosa was normal. The appearance was those of gastric autonomic nerve

Gastric complications following unintentional foreign body ingestion are extremely rare. We report the case of a 48-year-old lady who presented with a right upper quadrant mass and was diagnosed with a likely submucosal tumour of the stomach. After surgical resection she was found to have an impacted fishbone mimicking a gastric tumour.

He underwent an emergency laparotomy for a tumour in the lesser curve of the stomach. The tumour showed the characteristic histological and immunohistochemical features of epithelioid haemangioendothelioma. ...
متن کاملGastric schwannoma: a benign tumour often mistaken clinically, radiologically and histopathologically for a gastrointestinal stromal tumour – a case series
INTRODUCTION Gastric schwannomas are rare mesenchymal tumours that arise from the nerve plexus of the gut wall. They present with non-specific symptoms and are often detected incidentally. Pre-operative investigation is not pathognomonic and many are therefore diagnosed as gastrointestinal stromal tumours (GISTs). Operative resection is usually curative as they are almost always benign, underpi...
